For lack of wood the fire goes out, and where there is no whisperer, quarreling ceases.
Our Church Planting Residency is a training and preparation program for potential church planters.
Program Description: The Bethlehem Church Planting Residency is a church planter training program designed for called and qualified church planters to complete prior to full-time church planting work. The Residency aims to equip the resident by instilling in him our mission, doctrine, and values for church life by providing opportunities to observe how these convictions are lived out in the life of the local church.
Our mission is to spread a passion for the supremacy of God in all things for the joy of all peoples through Jesus Christ. Our doctrine is Bethlehem’s Elder Affirmation of Faith. Our values for biblical church life are expressed in the 10 Dimensions of Church Life.
Components of the Residency: The Residency includes supervised ministry, weekend seminars, seminary classes, a mentoring relationship, church planting conferences and assessments, and a year-end assessment and evaluation.
Support: Residents will receive a stipend of $25,000, disbursed monthly throughout the residency. The Resident will be responsible to raise at least $25,000, and up to $35,000, for additional salary support. Though we may be able to provide guidance, residents are responsible for their own health insurance.
Time: The Church Planting Residency is a full-time, one-year program based at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, MN. The program begins annually in August and ends in August of the following year.
Qualifications: Applicants are required to submit a completed application with personal and pastoral references. Preference will be given to applicants with pastoral ministry experience and to those having completed a Master of Divinity or similar theological degree program.
Process: Applicants will be screened, assessed, and interviewed by the Bethlehem Church Planting committee.
Due Date: The Residency application period is currently closed. Typically, the application process opens in January, with applications due by March 1.
