Mike Tong was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Taiwanese parents in 1979. At the age of 5, the Lord opened Mike's eyes to his need for a savior—a savior that he loves greatly, Jesus Christ. At the age of 11, Mike heard the Lord's calling to full-time ministry.  

After growing up in Southern California, that calling brought Mike to complete his BA in International Ministries and Applied Linguistics at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Before being called by the elder board to serve on the staff, Mike had been a lay member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for four years while working at Desiring God. During that time, the Lord gave Mike a deep desire to see the body of Bethlehem come together and love one another. As Mike comes on staff, he is trusting greatly on the commandment and promise of Jesus in John 13:34-35:

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

Mike is married to Catherine and has two kids, Christian and Juliana. Catherine works part time as an art teacher at Hope Academy.
