So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
John Piper

Pastor for Preaching & Vision, Chancellor, Bethlehem College and Seminary
Campus: All Campuses
- Executive Pastoral Assistant: David Mathis
- Pastoral Assistant: Nathan Miller
John’s life and ministry are driven by a desire to spread a passion for the supremacy of God in all things for the joy of all peoples through Jesus Christ. This calling began as the son of an evangelist, born in Tennessee and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. He first recognized a call to teach while at Wheaton College as an English major. He also met his wife Noël at Wheaton. The call grew in their marriage (1968) and through further study at Fuller Seminary (B.Div., 1971) and the University of Munich (D.Theol., 1974) in Germany, where their first son Karsten was born. The addition to their family of Benjamin, Abraham, Barnabas, and Talitha Ruth has further fueled this passion for God. It simmered for six years as John taught Biblical Studies at Bethel College and has continued to increase since he became pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in 1980.
Pastor John lives in downtown Minneapolis, near the church. Praying, teaching, thinking, clarifying, sharpening, laboring, writing, and traveling to share these fruits are all evidences of God’s continued call on his life to spread a passion for Jesus’ supremacy in all things for the joy of all peoples.
John is the author of more than 40 books, and more than 25 years of his preaching and teaching is available free at desiringGod.org.
