My son, keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not your mother’s teaching. Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck.
Update From the Hospital

Here’s what happened at the University of Minnesota hospital in the past few days:
- I was successfully treated for a “splatter” of numerous tiny blood clots in my lungs.
- There was sometimes severe pain associated with the clots and difficulty in breathing.
- The pain is under control and breathing is normal.
- I was reminded again of my mortality.
- Lifestyle changes are forthcoming pertaining to pharmaceuticals, stabilization of nutrition, and contact sports.
- Short of absolute confirmation, the prevailing thought is that my physical circumstances are associated with family line.
- I inquired about a surgical transplant to a different family, but physicians said the U of M does not offer that surgery.
- Numerous well-wishers prayed wonderful prayers on my behalf.
- God’s unspeakably good plan for my life is still right on track.
- I did not win the hospital gown fashion show contest.
- Lord willing, I am being released today and will be back in the office on Monday.
- Pray that I might have wisdom and love: Wisdom in stewarding the body and time God gives, and love in doing it for the good of others and not out of some kind of hypochondria or self-preoccupation.
