To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by doing so you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
"Drinking From a Fire Hose" at The Gospel Coalition's 2012 National Women's Conference
Many women from Bethlehem are blessed to be attending The Gospel Coalition's 2012 National Women's Conference. "Drinking from a fire hose" is a term I have heard more than once, describing the wonderful teaching we are receiving. Here is a list of the speakers from today, with a brief quote from each of their talks:
Tim and Kathy Keller Marriage in Gospel Focus
Tim: Marriage used to be about "us" and now it is about "me."
Kathy: In a Christian marriage, each person gets to play the Jesus role. Headship & submission both are descriptors of Jesus.
Don Carson Preserving the Gospel
Nothing must change this sequence: God's saving acts of sheer grace...our obedience...blessing.....The Passover, the Exodus, and Mount Sinai, in that order, the largest visual aid ever of the Gospel.
Pastor John The Search For Joy and the Supremacy of God in the Gospel
You have taste buds on your soul's tongue; they were made to lick the lollipop of the gospel.
Conversion is finding Jesus so valuable that you would have him at the cost of anything.
Tim Keller Session 1 On the Mountain: The terrifying and Beckoning God
If we could really see the depth of our sin I think we would die. That's why the presence of God is terrifying.
Jesus' blood cries out, "Grace! I have paid the penalty!" ....Because He was shaken, we get to live unshakeable lives.
Paige Benton Brown Session 2 In the Temple: The Glorious and Forgiving God
The Gospel is never "so that"....it is always "yet" or "but"; never causative but contradictory!
The temple- an Inhabitant God in a building; an Incarnate God in a body; an Indwelling God in our hearts....We don't just need influence or instruction but indwelling of the Holy Spirit. That's what transforms us.
Saturday will be a full day of Gospel-loving, Christ-exalting speakers. The messages will be live-streamed here.
