One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple. [For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock.]
Small Group Kick-Off: ‘Eager to Share Ourselves!’
Pastor John’s most recent message was a loud and clear declaration that every believer has something (a lot) to share with others, a key application being that Bethlehem’s Shepherd Groups are gatherings of trained leaders and participants committed to giving of themselves—”doers” of that implanted word (imperfect to be sure, nevertheless ...), doers and not hearers only, deceiving themselves.
I’m paraphrasing the strong words of James 1:21–25 for you who consider Bethlehem your church home, but aren’t yet in one of our 180+ small groups. Please conceive of the multiple incentives of the Kick-Off weekend to join a Shepherd Group as reminders to us to see ourselves in the mirror of God’s word and then to act, overcoming the inclination to forget what we’ve just seen. How can you take action?
Do you still have your “How to Find a Shepherd Group” bulletin insert? Four “action avenues” into your sharing community are via 1) the website, 2) the Shepherds’ Directory at your campus Welcome Desk, 3) contacting Hank (Downtown at 612-338-7653 x733), Marshall (North at 612-455-0800 x822), or Amy (South at 612-746-2650 x651), and 4) start a group after attending a leaders’ training upcoming at each campus soon.
What is the revealed promise? “[You] will be blessed in your doing!” (James 1:25)
