Come to the Shepherd Group Expo Oct 1/2

Did you know that most of the “you”s in the Bible are Texan? More often than not, the pronouns peppering the pages of your Bibles are plural (“y’all”) instead of singular (“you alone”), and this shows us that God intends the members of his church to be in gospel communities with other believers. The command in Ephesians 5:15 (“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise”) has a much different application when you know that Paul is addressing a community of people instead of a single individual.

Enter Shepherd Groups—otherwise known as small groups (SGs). These groups are one of Bethlehem’s primary means of making sure people are in an intentional gospel community.

After each service at the Downtown Campus this weekend there will be a “Shepherd Group Expo,” where Downtown Campus SG representatives will be at the north end of the Main Hall in order to welcome those who are not yet in a group. Each group will have a small table that shows what day of the week it meets on, and you’ll be able to get a feel for the group by interacting with some of its members, while also enjoying refreshments. If you’re already in a small group, come and represent your group at a table in order to welcome others in. And if you’re not in a group, “y’all” should come on out to find out where you can plug in to one of these intentional gospel communities!

So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.—Romans 12:5
