My son, keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not your mother’s teaching. Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck.
Five Things John Piper Showed the Elders About Fear

At the last all-elder meeting, Pastor John took us to Matthew 10:24–31 and drew out five arguments for having no fear.
- Being maligned and reproached is evidence that you are in the Master’s house, not evidence that he has abandoned you.
- When you suffer for biblical truth, you will eventually be vindicated.
- No ultimate damage can come to you. The most hostile enemies can only dispatch you to heaven.
- God knows you intimately; he is intimately attentive to every detail about you.
- God won’t let anything befall you except what accords with your good outcome ultimately.
So fear not when proclaiming what he has told us to proclaim.
