Five Things John Piper Showed the Elders About Fear

At the last all-elder meeting, Pastor John took us to Matthew 10:24–31 and drew out five arguments for having no fear.

1. Being maligned and reproached is evidence that you are in the Master’s house, not evidence that he has abandoned you.
2. When you suffer for biblical truth, you will eventually be vindicated.
3. No ultimate damage can come to you. The most hostile enemies can only dispatch you to heaven.
4. God knows you intimately; he is intimately attentive to every detail about you.
5. God won’t let anything befall you except what accords with your good outcome ultimately.

So fear not when proclaiming what he has told us to proclaim.
