We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.
Celebrating 20 Years
Betsy Lawler celebrated 20 years of serving as one of our global partners in Thailand. I missed the actual party, the speeches of thanks, and the good Thai feast that was enjoyed by all of her colleagues in the region. And yet on a recent visit to Thailand, my wife (Tamara) and I did get to celebrate with Betsy in a spectacular, God-glorifying way. We witnessed some of the beautiful fruit from those 20 years. Betsy, through the support of Bethlehem and many others, has served as one of our global partners with Campus Outreach. Betsy has poured her life into the lives of young Thai women whom God has called to Jesus. Tamara and I listened to the stories of Betsy's labors of love and how God changed the hearts of these Thai women. A box of tissues made the rounds as tears of joy were plentiful. One of the Thai woman had known the joy of Jesus for over 15 years, and now she was on staff with Campus Outreach with Betsy. Another woman took her first steps to follow Jesus in January 2012. At the end of the evening, Betsy said, "I am really very, very happy to be here."
Some of our global partners may never have the opportunity to celebrate like this. The soil for faith may be so rocky and hard that in 20 years of faithful service, they pass along a field of prayers for the next workers with continued hope for fruit someday. We praise God that Betsy has been given a gift of great encouragement, and this is a gift for you, too, Bethlehem. Our giving and praying has helped to make a difference, and the picture below shows actual lives transformed by the gospel. Thank you, Bethlehem, for supporting Betsy these 20+ years.
