My son, keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not your mother’s teaching. Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck.
East Africa Famine Relief
More than 12 million people are in urgent need of food, water, and medical care in drought-stricken Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia as a result of the worst drought in 60 years. Experts estimate that starvation and related diseases have already claimed the lives of over 29,000 children under age five. The United Nations is calling the crisis "the world's worst humanitarian disaster.”
African Inland Mission (AIM) Eastern Region is assisting with drought relief in Northern Kenya in a number of communities that are linked to missionaries on the ground. This includes Rendille, Samburu, Borana and Gabra people groups. This is being done on a small scale in assisting with food and water distribution. And it is always done in conjunction with their local church partners (Africa Inland Church) and/or local village leadership.
Bethlehem has sent a gift to AIM through the Global Diaconate to be used to assist in providing food and water and hope during this difficult time. Pray for relief for those who are hungry and thirsty for food, water, and Jesus' comfort.
