The Coordinator for Volunteers shall strive to whole-heartedly glorify Jesus Christ by assisting the Lead Pastors in finding gifted volunteers, equipped by the Lord, to fulfill strategic ministry needs. The Coordinator for Volunteers shall maintain a Christian spirit of love toward the Bethlehem staff and congregational volunteers, and thus support the advancement and joy of their faith.
Qualifications and Requirements
- The Coordinator will be a member in good standing of Bethlehem Baptist Church. If not a member when called to the church, he/she will complete the process within three months of the date when employment begins.
- Beyond the doctrinal and ethical implications of embracing our Affirmation of Faith and our Church Covenant (implicit in membership) the Coordinator will manifest support for the leadership of the church in general and specifically for that of the Lead Pastors.
- He/she should view this position as a ministry to be done in the power of the Holy Spirit, under-girded with prayer, guided by the scriptures and manifesting the character of Christ for the glory of God.
- He/she will be expected to faithfully perform his/her duties in a way that honors Christ and is an example to others.
- He/she will sustain a vital, growing relationship with the Lord through personal and corporate worship, study of God's Word, prayer, and regular, ongoing fellowship with believers at Bethlehem.
- He/she will carry out duties with total honesty and integrity and maintain cordial compatibility with the rest of the staff.
- He/she will maintain strict confidentiality according to the guidelines set forth in the Bethlehem employee handbook.
- He/she will have a solid understanding of the needs and priorities of the church.
- He/she will have multiple well-established relationships with members of the congregation across all campuses, along with an ability to continue to develop additional relationships within the congregation.

Ministry Responsibilities
Determine Priority Needs
- Working with the Office Manger and the Lead Pastor team, create a dynamic list of volunteer needs for the church, determining a general sense of priorities. Note that the initial priority is to “address the recruitment of (volunteer) medical care personnel as defined in the Health Care Coordinator proposal.”
- Evaluate ministry programs for their volunteer needs, along with their ability to use and care for volunteers.
Recruitment
- Establish and maintain healthy relationships with congregational members and ministry leaders across campuses and departments.
- Work along side staff members involved in the assimilation process to insure new members are active in the ministries of the church.
- Strengthen Fellowship One records to consistently capture and maintain information about congregational skills and ministry interests.
- Establish and oversee procedures to address specific needs.
- Help connect members and regular attenders with known ministry needs.
- Keep the church’s website Volunteer page up-to-date.
- Work with the Communications team to keep volunteer needs before the congregation.
Training/Encouragement
- Insure that new volunteers in targeted areas are well trained.
- Insure that volunteers are appropriately connected to existing campus and/or department staff and structures for maximum ministry effectiveness.
- Insure that volunteers are appropriately thanked and encouraged.
Volunteer Evaluations
- Evaluate the work of volunteers to insure that work is of appropriate (high) quality and that resources are used effectively.
General
- Respond to volunteer inquiries coming in to the church office.
- Other duties as assigned or as deemed necessary.
