Words of Installation
Tim Johnson (to Pastor Jason Meyer):
We are assembled before God to install the Reverend Jason Curtis Meyer, who has answered the call of Bethlehem Baptist Church to become the Pastor for Preaching & Vision.
Jason, the duties of your office are set forth in the Scriptures and delineated in your job description. As an ambassador of the Lord Jesus Christ, you are first of all to preach the whole counsel of God as revealed in the Bible and articulated in the Bethlehem Elder Affirmation of Faith. Whatever is contrary to sound doctrine is to be refuted with gently pastoral, yet firm, instruction.
Those who are committed to your pastoral care are to be diligently admonished to walk in the commandments and precepts of the Lord. The wandering are to be warned truthfully in love.
You are to steward the ordinances of baptism and The Lord’s Supper to the praise of the Great Shepherd and the well-being of the flock.
You are to pray diligently for your people and be a pattern of faith and good works which glorify God.
Do you therefore earnestly purpose to diligently fulfill these duties in the strength God supplies?
I do, with God’s help.
Tim Johnson (to the congregation):
Dear friends, receive as your pastor, the Reverend Jason Curtis Meyer, whom God has given you. Joyfully and soberly accept the word of God as preached by his messenger. Pray for your pastor that the ministry offered in this place may tend to the salvation of many souls to the everlasting glory of God. Honor and esteem the one who is to minister to your souls. Congregation of Bethlehem, do you now accept these obligations?
We do, with God’s help.
Jason, upon your solemn declarations and the congregation’s solemn response, I now install you, the Reverend Jason Curtis Meyer, as Pastor for Preaching & Vision of Bethlehem Baptist Church in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
