For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly. [O LORD of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you!]

From Pastor Sam Crabtree, an interview with Char Ransom
For decades, Char Ransom has been used of God to stimulate healthy interest in global evangelism at Bethlehem. I interviewed her about a refreshed focus this Fall.
What is it about Jesus that compels you to engage in world missions?
I cherish the love of Jesus: love that made a way for us to know him, love that extends to the whole world, love that desires “all men to come to the knowledge of the truth,” and love that sends ambassadors into the world to tell others of that love.
William Carey began his missionary efforts to India in 1792. He likened his mission to a miner penetrating into a deep mine, which had never been explored, with no one to guide. He said to Andrew Fuller and John Ryland and his other pastor friends: “I will go down, if you will hold the rope.” And John Ryland reports: “He took an oath from each of us, at the mouth of the pit, to this effect—that ‘while we lived, we should never let go of the rope.’” (Peter Morden, Offering Christ to the World, p. 167).
