What man is there who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

Here is what God permitted me to do during 10 days of vacation with my wife, Vicki:
Pastor Sam Crabtree is Bethlehem's Pastor for Small Groups, North.
From Pastor Chuck Steddom ...
Dear Bethlehem Family,
Today, Monday, March 2, Todd Rasmuson and I are making a relatively quick trip to visit our Kachin family in Myitkyina, the capital city of the Kachin State in Myanmar. We will be returning on March 10. I have been asked to participate in the College/Seminary Commencement and to be a part of the dedication of the new Kachin Theological College Administration/Classroom building.
And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.—Ephesians 4:11–12
Dallas Willard paraphrases that text like this: Church leaders are to prepare the saints to do what the saints are supposed to do.

Aaron Davitch Announced As Candidate for Minister for Small Groups and Children & Family Discipleship
In mid-July of this year, the South Campus Elders unanimously approved moving forward to call Aaron Davitch as Minister for Small Groups and Children & Family Discipleship. In August, the Organizational Elders interviewed him and they also approved moving forward to call him to this pastoral role.
The elders have approved a request I gave them earlier this year for a sabbatical, a gift to pastors at Bethlehem who have served five years or longer. They were very kind in granting my request, as well as providing some helpful guidance for my time away. The sabbatical is scheduled for October 6, 2014—January 6, 2015.
Highlights from the July 27 Quarterly Strategy Meeting include a Membership Report; a Treasurer’s Report; a vote to call Mike Tong as Minister for Neighborhood Outreach, Downtown; a South Site Building Committee Update and vote to approve an $85K Treasuring Christ Together (TCT) Campus fund expenditure; the Presentation of a Pastor Emeritus Covenant between the Bethlehem elders and John Piper; and two failed motions under New Business.

I am pleased to announce that Jared Wass will be assuming the role of Pastoral Resident for Small Groups, Downtown. His official start date is July 27, 2014, but he will begin transitioning into the role now to get ready for the Fall.
Jared has served as a non-vocational Elder since July 2012 and has been working with Campus Outreach as Mobilization Director.
We're excited to have Jared on the team and to continue to develop our small group ministry Downtown. If you see Jared around, please welcome him!
