The elders have approved a request I gave them earlier this year for a sabbatical, a gift to pastors at Bethlehem who have served five years or longer. They were very kind in granting my request, as well as providing some helpful guidance for my time away. The sabbatical is scheduled for October 6, 2014—January 6, 2015.

Five Cries of Discouraged Pastors

Published by: Sam Crabtree
March 13, 2014
  1. I cannot see any progress in my work.
  2. I cannot do what I’m truly gifted to do.
  3. Some difficult members are causing me pain.
  4. I don’t get affirmation for what I do.
  5. I don’t get enough rest and relaxation.

—According to Kevin Miller, quoted by Joel R. Beeke and Terry D. Slachter in Encouragement for Today’s Pastors: Help From the Puritans
