For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh— though I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh also.
From Jason Meyer, Pastor for Preaching & Vision
April 25 was the one-year anniversary of DART (Domestic Abuse Response Team), birthed in conjunction with a sermon that I preached on domestic abuse.
A few reflections ...
On Friday, January 30, 2015, John Henderson, Executive Director of the Center for Church Equipping (a training arm of the Association of Biblical Counselors), presented the seminar "When Sea Billows Roll: What to Do When Crisis Strikes."
The purpose of the event was to help the Bethlehem's family, staff, elders, and pastors know how to better care for one another in the midst of a crisis.
So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.—Romans 12:5
It is easier to know how to do than it is to do.—Chinese proverb
No man can do nothing and no man can do everything.—German proverb
What is done cannot be undone.—Italian proverb
And this from Jesus, Lord of the nations:
For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.—John 13:15
I had the opportunity a few days ago to speak to 40 men from Dubai on the subject of “How to Lead Like Paul,” a verse-by-verse exposition of 1 Thessalonians 2, which begins like this: For you yourselves know, brothers, that our coming to you was not in vain (1 Thessalonians 2:1).
Please pray that my going to the Middle East (with Bryan DeWire) not be in vain.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.—James 1:17
God the Father doesn’t change, but his gifts do. This life is by definition not permanent. Change happens. Accordingly, Tom & Jeanie Eckblad are changing with the relentless turning of calendar pages in this temporary life. But their ministry is not over. Rather, it is modulating from one key to another.
1 John 5:20-21
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. 21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
