A Definition of SoulCare
SoulCare is the in-depth, relational care provided by members of the body to one another, especially during times of crisis. This type of care differs from one another mutual care and from on-going teaching and preaching in that it focuses on providing comfort and encouragement for a specific time and need. For instance, SoulCare provides help to members of the body of Christ who are struggling with specific unyielding sins, spiritual and emotional discouragement, and relationship difficulties.
The Training of SoulCare Counselors
We desire to train men and women to become lay counselors. These counselors are called SoulCare Counselors. SoulCare Counselors who have gone through the training program are then able to help others in the congregation by coming alongside, encouraging, instructing, and providing care.
The SoulCare Training Program
Our SoulCare training program has three levels.
- SoulCare 101: This class is open to everyone who is interested in learning the basic skills of soulcare. Classes are offered separately for men and women. The skills learned in this class can be applied in all relationships.
- SoulCare 102: The men and women who have completed SoulCare 101, and who show giftedness in the soulcare process, are invited to participate in a practicum called SoulCare 102. In this practicum they provide SoulCare in a supervised situation. Upon completion of SoulCare 102, each participant meets with SoulCare directors to decide the next step. Completing SoulCare 101 and 102 is required for those wanting to be SoulCare Counselors
- SoulCare 103: This class is offered to SoulCare Counselors and focuses on specific areas of struggle where members of the body need special in-depth attention.
