A Big Understanding of God
"In the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will answer me." Psalm 86:7
It is our desire that our preschool children have a big understanding of God. We want to teach the Bible accurately using words that a three or four-year-old can grasp. We want the children to see that God is the hero of the Bible and not man. For example:
- God saves His people
- God keeps His promises
- God knows everything
- God is bigger and stronger than anybody
- God is everywhere
- God made everything
- Nothing is hard for God
- God is good
Memorizing the Bible at a young age is planting seeds of truth that will carry these children through all the days of their lives. It is moving to hear God's Word recited from the lips of young children.
It is also wonderful to hear God's Word prayed. Even young children can learn that God is the one we pray to when we have trouble which we will have much of in our lifetime. We give the children the opportunity to take turns praying in out large group time. They are eager to pray for the people they love that need God's help. We are amazed at their big prayers that focus on God's character and show faith in his ability to hear and answer prayer. This is certainly a reflection of the prayer that parents are doing with their children at home.
We are blessed to join with you in teaching, memorizing, and praying God's Word. We are confident that He will bring to completion the good work that He has begun in the lives of these dear children.
