MICAH Fund: Minority Infant & Children Adoption Help

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. (James 1:27)

After the birth of their second daughter, Jack and Sue started to think about adopting their next baby. The desire grew so strong; they knew it could only be a call from God. Later that year, they found out African American and biracial infants are considered, in adoption terms, "hard to place." That knowledge just strengthened their determination to adopt and confirmed their call from God. But where should they start? And could they afford it?

This is where the MICAH (Minority Infant and Children Adoption Help) Fund can help. The MICAH Fund provides financial assistance for qualified Christian adoptive parents in Minnesota. The money helps pay the fees of adoption agencies committed to providing quality services to birth parents, their children, and prospective Christian parents. Since it was founded in 1990, the MICAH Fund has helped hundreds of children become part of loving Christian families.

Why Minority Adoption?
Today, in the United States, there is an inordinately high percentage of minority infants and children waiting for adoption. Minority children are often considered "hard to place" simply because of the color of their skin. While adopting across racial lines should not be entered into lightly, it has been demonstrated that adoptive parents have successfully raised children of racial or ethnic backgrounds other than their own.

The Call to Christian Families
Each year, thousands of adoptions take place in the United States. Unfortunately, only a small percentage of these children are adopted by Bible-believing, Christ-honoring families. God calls His people, who are adopted children in His family, to be actively involved in helping orphans. Christians are responsible to reach out to these children. However, many Christian families hesitate to adopt because they fear the cost of adoption is insurmountable for them. The best home for any child is a home where Christ is honored and Biblical principals are taught. Therefore, the MICAH Fund strives to make adoption financially possible for Christian families.
