Providing SoulCare for the Body
We believe that each member of the body of Christ contributes to the overall care of the community on a daily basis in word and deed. Our shepherd groups (small groups) are the primary context for this type of care to occur. We strongly encourage everyone who is a part of Bethlehem to become part of a shepherd group. Some members are especially gifted in coming alongside other believers and listening with discernment. Such individuals are able to speak powerfully into the lives of those who are in a difficult period of their life.
Our Approach to Counseling
Our counseling and training focuses on the abundant grace of God found in Jesus Christ for all areas of "life and godliness." Our goal is to provide SoulCare to the body through encouragement and exhortation, leading to maturity in Jesus Christ for each person we train or counsel.
The Helping Hand Fund
One specific way we seek to care for the body is through our Helping Hand fund. This fund enables us to provide practical assistance and counseling to people experiencing a financial crisis.
Resources
- SoulCare Counselors: If you are part of our congregation and are in need of more specific, personal care and help than your small group can provide, please contact us. We will try to match you with a trained SoulCare Counselor.
- Pastoral Counseling: Tom Eckblad, Minister for Counseling, is able to provide short-term, in-depth counseling to some members of Bethlehem who request SoulCare. Other pastors on our staff also provide care and counseling for those who are part of our congregation.
- Referrals: We maintain a list of Christian counselors in the Twin Cities area.
